With Amsterdam-based BALDR Film (est.2011), Frank Hoeve focuses on developing and (co-)producing challenging, director-driven films with a distinctive personal signature. Not risk-averse, BALDR film keeps urgent content and artistry at the core of their work.

Their credits include Paikar by Dawood Hilmandi (2025, IDFA, winner Best First Feature and FIPRESCI and Hotdocs Winner Emerging International Filmmaker Award), The Garden of Earthly Delights by Morgan Knibbe (2025, Torino Winner Best Film and 4 Dutch Academy Awards) and Alpha. by Jan-Willem van Ewijk (2024, Venice’s Giornate Degli Autori, Winner Europa Cinema Label).

BALDR Film’s latest (co-)productions have been released at major festivals; All We Imagine As Light by Payal Kapadia (2024, Cannes Official Competition, winner of the Grand Prix, two Golden Globe nominations), Stranger by Zhengfan Yang (2024, Karlovy Vary, winner of the Proxima Grand Prix) and Soundtrack to a Coup d’État by Johan Grimonprez (2024, Oscar nomination for Best Documentary Feature Film, Sundance World Documentary Competition, winner of the Special Jury Prize).

Currently in (post-)production are Al Baraneya by Ashgan El-Hamus, The Smell of Apples by John Trengove, Weird Elliot by Johannes Nyholm and Jenjira’s Magnificant Dream by Apichatpong Weerasethakul.

Frank Hoeve Producer

Producer Frank Hoeve graduated from the Haarlem Business School with a Bachelor of Economics and studied at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.

In addition to his producing work, he was the chairman for the Association of New Film and Television Makers (NFTVM) and, until recently, a board member of the Go Short International Film Festival. Currently he is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Movies that Matter Film Festival and a board member of the Netherlands Audiovisual Producers Alliance.

He participated in ACE and EAVE and is the national representative for the EAVE-network and was part of the Realness Institute’s first Creative Producer Indaba workshop, focusing on the African continent. Frank was selected as Producer on the Move during the Cannes Film Festival 2018.

Janniek Sinnige

Janniek Sinnige studied Media & Culture with a specialization in film, and finished a research master in Cultural Analysis. After working as a special film programmer for Filmtheater de Uitkijk and assistant producer for Family Affair Films, she joined BALDR Film in 2024.
