ALPHA wins Europa Cinemas Label in Venice

Jan-Willem van Ewijk’s Alpha took the Europa Cinemas Label for best European film in Giornate degli Autori sidebar in Venice, awarded by a jury consisting of European exhibitors Daira Aboliņa, Antonio Costa Valente, Andrea Porta and Jana Trnkova. The jury noted “a real tour de force which we think audiences will connect with.”

LevelK boarded the film for sales. It follows a man whose restorative Alpine retreat is disturbed by the arrival of his father, with the pair embarking on a perilous ski tour.

The film is produced by BALDR Film, in co-production with Lomotion and Staragara.

The Europa Cinemas Label aims to increase the promotion, circulation and exhibition lifespan of winning films. The Label is awarded at a strategic point in a film’s career, at the time of its presentation at a festival and launch onto the international market. The Label mobilises the media, exporters, distributors and exhibitors.
