BALDR Film is the Amsterdam-based production company of Frank Hoeve and Katja Draaijer.

They focus on developing and (co-)producing challenging features and documentaries of a select number of filmmakers with a distinctive personal signature for an international audience. In this, they offer a lot of support in matters of content, whereby the form and originality of the production comes first.

After establishing in 2012 they produced the short film Sevilla by director Bram Schouw and screenwriter Marcel Roijaards, which won the Dutch Academy Award.

At this moment their feature Brothers is in the cinema’s starring Jonas Smulders (The Diner, Geen Koningen in ons bloed), Niels Gomperts (Penoza), Christa Théret (Renoir) and Rufus (Amélie).
They also produced the well-acclaimed and IDFA-nominated documentary Those Who Feel the Fire Burning by Morgan Knibbe, which won the Dutch Academy Award for Best Feature Length Documentary.

At this moment there are several films in production: the Danish/Swedish/Dutch co-production Between two Worlds by Janus Metz (Armadillo) and the Uruguayan/Brazilian/Argentinian/Dutch co-production Window Boy would also like to have a Submarine by Alex Piperno. The feature Gold by Rogier Hesp is in preproduction.

Katja Draaijer Producer

Katja Draaijer obtained her doctorate at the University of Amsterdam in Cultural Studies & Film and Television Studies. She worked for 12 years at IJswater Films as Head of Development and Producer for fiction projects and documentaries.

Since 2010, she has been a freelance script editor for fiction projects and a member of the advice committee for feature films of the Netherlands Film Fund. She attended the ARISTA Story Editors Workshop, MEDIA Documentary Campus and the Franz Rodenkirchen Binger Story Editor Workshop. Presently she is chairman of the board of the Documentary Producers Netherlands.

Frank Hoeve Producer

Frank Hoeve graduated from the Haarlem Business School with a Bachelor of Economics. In 2004, he attended a course in Film Studies at the University of Barcelona. He has produced at IJswater Films for 6 years and 1 year at Dutch Mountain Movies/Talent United.

In addition to his producers work, he was the chairman for the Association of New Film and Television Makers (NFTVM) and until recently board member of the Go Short International Film Festival. In 2011 he participated in the Ateliers du Cinema (ACE) that provides training and a network for European producers and he attended the Story Editing Workshop by Franz Rodenkirchen at the Binger Filmlab. Currently he is attending the EAVE Producers Workshop.

Jotte den Dulk Assistant Producer

Jotte den Dulk graduated as a documentary filmmaker at the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in the beginning of 2016. During her studies she specialized in directing, research and production for documentaries. She did a one-year internship at production company Een van de Jongens and was the creative director of Breaking Ground, the platform for European film students and their films.

Since then she has worked as an assistant director for the documentary series Daughters (KPN Presenteert), as an impact producer for the documentary Cloud Nine (BALDR Film) and as a programmer at Go Short International Short Film Festival Nijmegen. Next to working as an assistant producer at BALDR Film, she is also working on her own projects.

At the office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
